The Jackson Heights Poetry Festival (JHPF) is a group of poets, educators, academics, and students seeking to celebrate the rich diversity of Jackson Heights and the greater Queens community through poetry. I am the After School Coordinator at Garden School, where the festival will take place, and El Jezel was asked to take part in the final day of the festival by playing some music in between poets. Our talented friends Kristie Redfield (www.thesongcorporation.com) will also be performing with us for our first set, plus special guest Alex Lipsitt on drums. It’s kind of a supergroup, you know? It is a free event so please come and join us on Saturday, May 17th from 10-6pm at Garden School: 33-16 79th St. Jackson Hts.
